Leather Jackets are a great choice for motorcycle riding for a couple of reasons. First, they protect you from the elements. Leather jackets are a great barrier between you & Mother Nature-whether it be rain, snow, bugs or flying debris. Second, they are great protection from abrasion in the unfortunate event of a fall.
Birds of Prey Motorsports has select leather jackets starting at only $99 in Men’s & Women’s sizes.
In February, Thursdays are ‘Leather it Up’ Day---every Thursday this month select leather jackets are 29% OFF in celebration of our Leap Year Sale-A-Thon! Stop by & see us for these, & other great deals at Birds of Prey Motorsports in Caldwell.
MAINTAINING YOUR BATTERY
Batteries are very important to keep maintained year round. For those of you who are starting your bike and revving it up in the garage then shutting it down—you are hurting your battery more than you are helping it. The two best ways to keep a good battery charge is to ride or keep a battery tender on it!
For those of you running into battery problems or in need of service, remember we offer FREE pick up & delivery. Birds of Prey Motorsports is also the home of $29 oil change on any Yamaha or Suzuki Motorcycle!
BATTERY CHARGERS
At Birds of Prey Motorsports we sell Genius Smart Chargers. There are 2 sizes—the G750, a .75amp & the G1100, a 1.1amp model. Both chargers work on 6V or 12V batteries. They are great for maintaining batteries in storage. The charge rate automatically adjusts to the load needed & shuts off when the battery is fully charged. When battery voltage drops, the charger automatically turns back on to continue charging.
These chargers come in a kit with ring connectors to wire your battery & clip connectors to attach to any battery. We also sell adapter leads to plug into power ports or an adapter to fit the battery tender leads if you already have those.
These chargers work on all types of batteries & are a great investment in maintaining your battery.
At Birds of Prey Motorsports we have these chargers in stock & ready to go—give us a call at (208) 453-2222 or come see us in Caldwell today!
CHECK YOUR TIRES!
Attention all Motorcycle Riders! It is very important to check your tire condition & pressure before every ride. The most common breakdown for motorcycles is tire failure. When the only thing between you & the pavement is your tires, it’s best to understand & maintain them properly.
The best thing you can do is to keep your tires properly inflated. A tire that is under inflated generates a lot of heat which can lead to excessive wear, a blow out & can alter the handling of your motorcycle. As far as the condition goes, make sure your tire tread depth is at 3mm or more, if it’s less thatn 3mm-it’s time to replace them.
We know that you’re busy & that your time is valuable, therefore we offer FREE PICK UP & DELIVERY! That’s right, we will come pick up your ride & deliver it back to you at no cost. We service all makes & models.
BEING STUCK SUCKS
It has finally started snowing this year & we got a large amount of snow in a short period of time. This means the snow is deep & soft because it hasn’t had a chance to set up, so when you venture off trail you stand the chance of getting stuck. We all know getting stuck is no fun so I have put together some items to help when you do get stuck.
The first item is a snow shovel-this is used to dig out around the sled to help get it moving again.
The next item is the Snowbunje Rattler pulling device. It has a handle & when hooked to the front spindle & stretched out, it provides tremendous pulling force to get a sled out.
Another item is the Snowbunje Cobra pulling device. It has a hook on both ends & is used with a tow strap & hooked to another sled to help you pull out of the snow.
These are great items to help get your sled out when stuck, because stuck sucks.
TYPES & STYLES OF SNOWMOBILE GLOVES
Snow gloves come in 3 different types & 2 different styles.
The 2 different styles are short cuff & full gauntlet.
The 3 types are:
1. Uninsulated Lightweight-these gloves are used for the drier warmer days & make great gloves for loading & unloading or spares for your backpack.
2. Midweight-these gloves offer good protection with thicker insulation on the back of the glove & thinner insulation on the palms for better feel. They also have leather palms for increased grip.
3. Heavyweight-these gloves offer great warmth & protection. They have heavy duty insulation on the back of the glove but still have thin palms for a better feel. They are gauntlet style for less snow intrusion thru the cuff area.
WHERE IS THE SNOW?!
Where is the snow? A very common question these days. Be patient, it will get here. But when the snow does get here I have one very important thing for you to think about. We already have had a little snow that is frozen hard & icy. Now pile feet of soft snow on top of ice & what do you get? AVALANCHE DANGER. We don't want you to forget in your excitement of finally getting to ride to remember to check slope angles and snow conditions--we want you to RIDE SAFE!
At Birds of Prey Motorsports we want everyone to have fun and be safe. We have avalanche beacons & probes in stock. For those of you who desire the ultimate in buoyancy & safety during an avalanche--we can also order avalanche air bag systems & have them to you in just a few days.
So GET READY! The snow will get here, so let's have fun & be safe. The snowmobiling community & Birds of Prey Motorsports care about your safety & want you around for a long time.
WHY DO I NEED CHEST PROTECTION?
One of the familiar hazards of dirt bike or ATV riding is the kickback of roost from the ride in front of you. And of course, some of that roost includes rocks. This is when a roost deflector becomes your very good friend. When you wear a chest protector, you don't need to be one of the riders who walks away with a bruised up chest, or worse. Also, you never know when you're going to launch off your dirt bike, street bike, or ATV and a chest protector can help absorb that impact to your chest if it does happen. Some chest protectors provide broader protection to cover your back and shoulders from impact as well.
